Kuwait's labour market is shaped by the country's oil wealth, an extensive public sector, and active Kuwaitisation policies under the Kuwaitisation programme that require private companies to maintain minimum ratios of Kuwaiti nationals on their payroll. Writing a strong Kuwait CV means understanding the dual-track market: a public sector driven by nationality and connections, and a private sector that includes major oil companies, banks, and a growing services industry.
The Kuwait CV Format
The standard document is called a CV, not a resume. Two pages is the accepted maximum for most professionals. The structure follows Gulf convention: personal information block (including photo), professional summary, work experience in reverse chronological order, education, skills, languages, certifications, and a declaration of authenticity at the end.
Applications are submitted in English for most corporate and international roles, with Arabic required for government positions and strongly preferred for public sector applications.
